Week 1 of the ConsenSys developer program just passed. The ConsenSys dev program is a 9-week course focusing on blockchain development.
As my sister says in her review, week 1 is an intro (or a refresher, depending on your knowledge level) to what a blockchain is. We go over what a blockchain is, what Ethereum is, what a distributed ledger really is. The first week doesn’t have extensive material, but the ConsenSys program releases all of the course modules at once, so you can skip ahead. Whether you want to dive into most of the course as fast as you can or go module by module each week, you can do either.
As for the format of the course, it is on Coursera and the ConsenSys mentors (and other students) are all in the Ryver community, which so far appears to be much like Slack but with just one channel. The only thing I would improve about the course so far is this–with just one channel on Ryver, there’s a lot of people talking in one place, whereas it’d be more organized if we had different channels for certain modules or certain subtopics. This may change as the course goes on–we’ll see.
I don’t have a lot of prior experience with blockchain development besides toying around with some tutorials and tinkering with Solidity, so I’ll be sharing updates about everything I’m learning as I go.
