What I’m going to do for the next 30 days:
Deep Work Goal: During Monday through Thursday, I’m giving up social media and surfing the internet, and this includes not reading articles or blog posts. I’ll only do these things at certain times on Friday and through the weekend. Why? I’ve been using deep work techniques for a long time, but the other month I gave up social media and internet surfing during the week and it felt like taking a breath. I spent more of my nights reading books, meditating, and just creating so much more. By cutting out all the noise on the internet during the week, I was able to learn faster, focus more at my job and just have more time to breathe and be alive. Deep Work by Cal Newport is my favorite book, and this 30 day challenge is another step towards the deep life I want.
Learning Node: 4 blog posts. Learning node at my job and on weekends feels like it takes up about 90% of my life right now. After work, I’ll be blogging once per week on what I’m learning about with Node, Mongodb, etc. As I deepen my understanding of Node, I become better at debugging my company’s app, working in it, and overall I really understand how our entire app works. I’ll be blogging about concepts in Node, or I’ll blog about what weekend apps I’m working on as I learn more Node.
Praxis History module group. Praxis has an awesome History module that I’ve always wanted to complete. Every Sunday, some fellow Praxians and I will be meeting (virtually) to discuss the module as we go through it together.
What are your December goals?
